  1. Looks great! I like the idea of forming a technology leadership team. We get so many trainings on technology, but I think we'd see technology more deeply embedded in core curriculum, etc., if we had ongoing help with implementation. Nice work!

  2. Technology is a must to keep up with the new ways our students learn! We live in a fast society...students have been raised with this and if we are to keep their interest, we need to keep up as well! Good luck! I am excited to see how it turns out!

  3. @Linda, Thank you. I plan on having other teachers do training on tools that they are familiar with so that I won't be the only one doing the teaching. However, I will probably still end up doing most of the teaching.

@Mary, Thank you for your kind words. Follow this blog to see my progress :-)

  4. Make sure once you offer a technology training, you do some sort of follow up. There are so many technology trainings that we have had the ones I remember the best, and use, are the once I had more than one opportunity to practice with. Also, really try to focus on subject area digital/internet/technology integration as many times we demonstrate technology to get our teachers up and running, but not really how to exploit the technology to bring their subject area to their students.

  5. @Travis, Thank you for your insight. I completely agree with you. The best trainings that I have been to involve helping teachers use it in their own situation for their own classroom. After all, isn't that what we are trying to do with technology? Personalize learning for every learner?

I plan on having each mini-lesson last around 30 minutes and leave the last 30 minutes for people to "play" with the new technology or tool. Do you think that will work?

  6. We share similar action plans so I will definately be visiting your findings! Great action plan, John. I like your ideas about the ELT and would like to start the same initiative in my district. You have given me an idea to put on my action plan. I have pd on there, but sometimes, one person can't do it all. Having a "go to" person to get help from is easier than waiting for a pd class. Also a teamed effort is always best for implementation and buy-in. Best of luck!
